4 Months of Legos, Then a Ring
The engagement story of Angela Richards & Matthew Hama

On December 28th, Matt handed me a small red lego piece and said "Don't lose anything I give you from now on." This led to four months of bagged lego arrivals (every lego numbered individually in sharpie), accompanied by photos to guide me in construction. On April 21st, I received the final pieces, and lego #209 of the house I had just built fell into place. Matt made up some excuse to leave my house, and handed me a letter explaining that this house was not really what I had been building the past several months.

I was given detailed instructions on how to dissemble and reassemble all the pieces, so that the finished product spelled out 'chk car glv-8x' (which you can check out in our photo gallery). After looking for a car with a license plate of 'glv-8x,'  I finally realized this meant my glove box... There I found a beautiful map which I followed to a private floating house marina on the Fraser river. Upon arrival, I was escorted in turn down to the water by two of Matt's friends, and then told to walk the rest alone.

I travelled the long stretch of dock hemmed in by houses, and turned the corner to find vases of flowers leading me to Matt, who was standing on the water's edge. After one of the most beautiful speeches these young ears have heard, Matt got down on his knee, and, with a bit of nervousness due to his guessing my ring size, asked me to be his wife.

Thankfully it fit, and I will!
